Sex Therapy for Trauma & PTSD in Washington & Texas

You might be exhausted from pretending you’re okay.
You show up, get through the day, maybe even smile — but underneath, there’s a constant hum of tension or numbness that won’t go away.

Touch might feel complicated. Desire may come and go. And when it comes to intimacy, you’re torn between wanting closeness and wanting to disappear.

These reactions make sense. Your nervous system responds to keep you safe. Through trauma-informed sex therapy, you can begin to feel connected, grounded, and free to experience pleasure and safety again.

It’s easy to minimize trauma — to tell yourself it wasn’t “that bad,” or that you should’ve moved on by now.
But unresolved pain often shows up in subtle, deeply human ways.

Does this sound like you?

You might benefit from trauma therapy if…

⟡ You’re feeling shut down or disconnected during sex or emotional intimacy.

⟡ You struggle to feel desire or pleasure, even when you want to.

⟡ Flashes of panic, discomfort, or dissociation occur out of nowhere.

⟡You avoid sex or touch altogether because it feel to much.

⟡ You have physical pain or tension that makes intimacy uncomfortable.

⟡ It’s difficult to trust partners or to set boundaries.

How Trauma Therapy Can Help You

Healing from trauma isn’t about erasing your past. It’s about gently teaching your body that it’s safe to be here — that you’re no longer in danger.
Sex therapy provides a space to explore what safety, pleasure, and connection can feel like again, at your own pace.

In therapy, I’ll help you:

⟡ Rebuild a sense of safety and trust within your body

⟡ Release shame and self-blame tied to intimacy or pleasure

⟡ Learn grounding tools to help you stay present during connection

⟡ Reconnect emotionally and physically with your partner(s)

⟡ Redefine what sex and intimacy mean for you

Hi, I’m Cheyenne McGuire, LMFT, CST.

I take a gentle, collaborative, and body-informed approach that centers safety and consent in every step of your healing process. There’s no agenda, no rushing, and no shame. We’ll move at your pace, focusing on what feels safe and accessible for you.

In sessions, we may explore how trauma has shaped your body’s reactions, how shame has silenced parts of you, and what it could mean to feel safe in pleasure again. We’ll use nervous system regulation, somatic, and EMDR therapy to help your body slowly unlearn fear and rediscover connection.

Healing doesn’t mean forcing your body to do what it’s not ready for — it means helping it feel safe enough to want to.

I am deeply passionate about this work as it relates to my personal history and academic career. I know what it’s like to feel disconnected to your body and your partner because of traumas. I would love to help you create safety with yourself again.
